Kitacon is going through a new look before Amecon. This will help give it a fresh new look and be more appealing to the audience. It is basically build up from the old design and includes alot more images and a easier updating system for news.

It uses the phpnews script to update information within the page more efficiently. This can be found at http://newsphp.sourceforge.net

Kitacon registration is open soon, sunday to be exact. Hopefully the script will perform as well as it should.

I have integrated 2 features in with the Kitacon website, for usability and security…

The Pie chart uses PEAR PHP to create a model that tells the user how many places left and how many people are registered to the convention.

A GOTCHA, this helps stops spammers and scripts to forcefully populate our database with useless information. This is a serious issue we have had and trying out best to tackle it.

Amecon is coming up soon and this should be a turning point where registrations is vital for Kitacon. Trying to sort out what is required but still having troubles with certain elements that need to be sorted before we can open registrations.

The script produced for Kitacon is running efficiently and changes need to be made for the PO BOX. The forum is getting new visitors everytime visting the site. We are on a strict schedule now and need to get a few issues solved before progressing on with the floor planning.

We also have some unique ideas for events at the convention and hopefully the site
should be updated soon with with some important information.

We have now got the site up and running, registrations is not up at the moment. All PHP scripts have been completed and during numerous tests seem to be running efficiently. Getting all the elements of Kitacon running has been quite a task, coming up with different solutions to problems just causes more problems in the long run.

Hopefully within the next few weeks will be the most important part of the setup of the convention.
