The broadband evolution!!!
Blazing fast speed, watch movies streaming over fibre optic (insert cool word here) cable. I sound like some sort of sales type person. I live in the UK, England to be exact.
This is the place where the broadband does not equal next gen speed. The technology is seriously lacking in the UK, while BT are upgrading to ADSL2 by the end of 2012? Virgin has its fibre optic, but why around afternoon the net gets so slow?
BT says in its adverts “up to” 8mbit. Yet some of us are lucky to get 2mbit even though living close to the exchange. Sometimes I have to cope with 0.23mbit and hardly get one page to load. For a web developer my Internet is my source of income and I am seriously doubting that our technology now can’t come with the demand as badwidth becomes more valuable eveytime someone logs on. I just hope within a few years we will be leaving behind our 1950′s structure and moving on to something to handle the demand of the information superhighway.
